With the successful development of a planar core, a planar transformer design was realized. The planar transformer requires a magnetic core, and the winding is a planar structure, usually chopped into PCB windings to achieve high frequency and low shape. In the market, the Planar transformers power from 5W to 20KW, frequency from 20KHz to 2MHz, efficiency up to 98%. 

 

Key priority

1. high current density. The wires of planar transformer are planar conductors, so the current density is high.

2. high efficiency. Efficiency as high as 98%~99%.

3. low leakage inductance. About 0.2% of the primary inductance.

4. good heat conduction. Short hot aisle distance, low temperature rise.

5. low EMI radiation. Excellent core shielding keep radiation low.

6. small size. Use small magnetic core, reduce volume accordingly.

7. The parameter repeatabiltiy is good. Fixed winding structure, easy to pre-process, reduce stable parameters.

8. wide operating frequency range. From 50KHz to 2MHz.

9. wide operating temperature range. Form -40℃~130℃.

10. Good insulation. The planar transformer is composed of conductive circuits and insulating sheets overlapping each other, which ensure up to 4KV insulation between winding, primary-secondary & secondary-secondary.
