Rogowski coil

Named after German physicist Walter Rogowski, Rogowski is an electrical device which used to measure alternation current (AC), such as high-speed transients, pulsed currents, or power-frequency sinusoidal currents. It's no special requirements for the conductors & dimensions, with fast instantaneous response capability, which is widely used in occasions where traditional current measuring devices. The Rogowski coils with flexible type and rigid type.


The simplest way of a Rogowski coil is that a coil uniformly wound N turns per meter on a non-magnetic bobbin of constant cross-sectional area A. The winding wire returned to the staring point along the central axis of former and both ends are connected to the cable. The free end of the coil is plugged into the tee plug adjacent to the cable connection, so that the coil can surround the conductor carrying the current to be measured.
