Hall effect sensors are non-contact design, by using magnetic fields, to detect variables such as the proximity, speed, or displacement of a mechanical.

Hall effect sensor's output signal is a function of magnetic field density around.

When no magnet is present (B = 0), the output voltage is VQ (typically 1V). The presence of a magnetic field scales the output toward 2V or 0V. The usable range is between 0.2V and 1.8V, since the B-response becomes nonlinear close to the rails.

If you want to test a hall sensor, you need to apply +5V (using power supply or battery) between the red wire which is te "+" hall sensor wire and the black wire which is "-" hall sensor wire and check the voltage between each of the hall signal wires (white wires) to the red wire (with multi-meter).
